Kyra M. Sedgwick (born Kyra Minturn) is an American actor and TV host. She is well-known all over the world and especially in America for her role as the lead in the TV series 'The Closer'. Sedgwick was first fascinated by performing arts, Broadway, and acting at the age of 12 of age. Sedgwick was introduced to Broadway by her mother, who was a Broadway enthusiast. Sedgwick was only sixteen when she had her first professional role on the show 'Another World. It was her desire to become a well-known actor, not just small TV part that attracted Sedgwick initially. In the movie "Born on the Fourth of July", in which Tom Cruise also starred, Sedgwick was noticed for the first-time on a big screen. Sedgwick continued to get roles as she was a success with this movie. There were some other roles in films such as Singles, Heart and Souls and Phenomenon. When she was just 22 year old, she was married the actor Kevin Bacon after working in the TV show Lemon Sky. Sedgwick became a household name on American television thanks to her impressive performance on "The Closer" which was a seven-season television series which won her the Golden Globe Award and Emmy.
